In times when the NCAA transfer portal and NIL sometimes cause confusion in Division I athletics, the 2024 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All-America teams, presented by The Game Headwear, reflect loyalty to contending universities and some of the nation’s most talented diamond standouts. West Virginia’s J.J. Wetherholt, Preseason Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, and Jac Caglianone, Southeastern Conference standout and fellow 2023 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear finalist, head a solid list of returning post-2023 NCBWA All-America selections.

After tying the program record with 51 wins and leading the program to its first College World Series appearance since 1978, Oral Roberts head coach Ryan Folmar has been named the 2023 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Mike Martin National Coach of the Year.

Oral Roberts’ Cade Denton received 2023 Stopper of the Year honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday. He is the first player from the Summit League to receive the award since the Stopper of the Year debuted in 2005.  

LSU pitching standout and consensus All-American Paul Skenes is the 36th recipient of the 2023 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear.

With some of nation’s most talented NCAA Division I players featured, the 2023 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s 23rd Annual All-America first, second and third teams were revealed Wednesday. There are 21 different conferences and 18 conference championship squads represented among the ’23 honorees. The three All-America squads are also made up of 12 conference players or co-players of the year, 14 conference pitchers of the year and two conference relief pitchers of the year.

Georgia outfielder Charlie Condon and Nicholls State right-hander Jacob Mayers have been named the 2023 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Freshman Hitter and Pitcher of the Year recipients, as announced by the organization today.

Thirty-four standout freshmen from every part of the country are featured on the 2023 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced today. 

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its 25th Annual District Players of the Year for all nine districts for the 2023 season.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the Dick Howser Trophy Committee have named the five finalists for the 36th Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear as the national player of the year. The five finalists for the Howser Trophy, which has been presented since 1987 except for the 2020 COVID-shortened season, are sophomore 1B/SP Jac Caglianone of Florida, junior OF Dylan Crews of LSU, junior SP Rhett Lowder of Wake Forest, SP junior Paul Skenes of LSU and sophomore 2B JJ Wetherholt of West Virginia.

The Dick Howser Trophy Committee, in conjunction with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, has released the list of semifinalists for the 2023 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear. The most prestigious award in college baseball is given to the top player based on two rounds of national voting. 

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending Feb. 19. Texas State freshman infielder/outfielder Chase Mora was named National Hitter of the Week, while LSU junior right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes was named National Pitcher of the Week.

Stocked with standouts from the 2022 NCAA World Series and national Top 25-35 squads, the 22nd annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-America teams feature the best of college baseball for the coming campaign.

Texas State’s Tristan Stivors was named the 2022 Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday, becoming the first player from the Sun Belt to win the honor since the award’s inception in 2005. Stivors, a right-handed pitcher from Castroville, Texas, boasted a 7-1 record with a nation-leading 18 saves. He allowed just 18 runs, 15 earned, in 61 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .210 batting average. The senior allowed multiple runs in just four of his 32 appearances. 

After leading Notre Dame back to the NCAA College World Series for the first time since 2002, head coach Link Jarrett has been named the 2022 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Mike Martin National Coach of the Year.Jarrett led the Irish to their first 40-win mark since 2006 and back to Omaha for the third time in program history. Jarrett is one of two coaches (Mike Bianco, OIe Miss) in the eight-team field to reach the College World Series as a player and coach after going three times as a player at Florida State.

Texas first baseman Ivan Melendez, the Longhorns’ all-time seasonal home run leader and Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, is the 35th recipient of the 2022 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound redshirt junior from El Paso (Texas) Coronado High School, also is the fourth Longhorn (five times) to nab this national honor since 1992. The El Paso resident also is first in NCAA Division I runs-batted-in with 94, first in slugging percentage at .886, first in total bases with 209, fourth in on-base percentage at .518, 13th in runs with 75, 12th in total hits with 94, and 14th in batting average at .396.

The NCBWA presented its annual national awards in a news conference at the College World Series in Omaha.

After two rounds of voting by the organization, 78 baseball student-athletes comprise the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s 23rd Annual All-America first, second and third teams, as announced on Wednesday. Twenty-three different conferences and 14 conference championships teams are represented. The three All-America squads are also made up of 13 conference players or co-players of the year, 11 conference pitchers of the year winners and one relief pitcher of the year.
