The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on April 21, 2024. William Jewell senior shortstop Alex Epp is the National Hitter of the Week and Pitt-Johnstown junior Rodney Schultz is the National Pitcher of the Week.

A nine-inning no-hitter in New England earned the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Div. III Pitcher of the Week award for games played April 15-21, while an 18 RBI week and a complete-game, two-hit shutout earned the Hitter and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively.

With the final stretch of the 2024 collegiate regular season underway, 59 of the sport’s top relief pitchers were named to the Midseason Watch List for the 19th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year award, members of the association announced Wednesday. Relievers who are not on the midseason list still have an opportunity to be named a finalist for the award. 

For the 11th straight week, the University of Tampa Spartans are the top-ranked team in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) top 25 poll. Tampa received all 20 first-place votes, making this the ninth time UT has been the unanimous number one team this season. The Spartans are 37-4 on the season and have been the top-ranked team in every in-season NCBWA poll this year, after checking in at #3 in the preseason poll.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending April 21. FIU senior outfielder Armando Becerra and Oregon junior first baseman/outfielder Jacob Walsh were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while LSU redshirt sophomore left-handed pitcher Gage Jump was named National Pitcher of the Week.

Texas A&M, the fourth school to be ranked No. 1 this spring, while Atlantic Coast Conference powers Clemson and Duke now are Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, behind Arkansas and Tennessee of the Southeastern Conference.

Home runs and going the extra mile for a team on the mound caught the attention of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Div. III Weekly Awards Committee, which announced its honors for games played April 8-14 on Wednesday. Please note there is a second honorable mention Pitcher of the Week due to a voting tie and both honorable mention selections having the same number of first-, second-, and third-place votes.

Georgia redshirt sophomore third baseman Charlie Condon was named National Hitter of the Week, while Texas A&M junior right-handed pitcher Chris Cortez was named National Pitcher of the Week.

Texas A&M has achieved its first No. 1 ranking this spring while Arkansas, the leader from March 18-April 8, dropped to No. 3 behind No. 2 Tennessee. The Aggies are the fourth team to achieve No. 1 this year, joining Wake Forest, Oregon State and the Razorbacks.

A two-grand slam week, a 17-strikeout outing, and a rookie on an offensive tear captured the week seven National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Div. III weekly honors. This week’s selections were chosen based on performances for games played April 1-7.
