DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending April 26. Auburn junior infielder Eric Guevara and Liberty senior third baseman Jordan Jaffe were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Tennessee sophomore right-handed pitcher Tegan Kuhns and Virgina Tech junior right-handed pitcher Brett Renfrow named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Guevara led Auburn with nine hits and tied teammate Ethin Bingaman for the team lead with nine RBI. He collected multiple hits in three of four games, including three or more hits on a pair of occasions, and drove in three runs in three of four games.

The Panama City, Panama, native started the scoring Tuesday against Samford with a two-run home run, sparking the team’s nine-run first inning. He came back around for the second time in the first and drove in the ninth run of the inning with an RBI single, becoming the first player with multiple hits in an inning this season.

Continuing his offensive onslaught, Guevara went 3-for-5 in the series opener against Oklahoma to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, the longest by an Auburn player since 2023. The hit streak was snapped despite a pair of hard-hit balls Saturday, but he responded by going 4-for-4 with two doubles, his third two-run home run of the week and three RBI in the series-clinching rubber game against Oklahoma.

Jaffe hit .500 (10-for-20) with 14 RBI and four runs scored for the Flames. He had four doubles and a triple, posting a .478 on-base percentage and an .800 slugging percentage. He had at least one hit in all five games during the week and had two or more hits in each of the last four games. The senior also upped his team-leading reached base safely streak to 32 consecutive games.

The Moorpark, California, native started the week with a hit and two RBI in the Flames' come-from-behind 13-10 win over Duke at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium this past Tuesday. Liberty scored seven runs in the eighth inning to take the lead en route to the victory.

On Wednesday, Jaffe had two hits and a stolen base at Virginia and then followed with two hits, a double and two RBI on Friday evening against Delaware.  On Saturday, the senior had a two-run triple, an RBI double and a sacrifice fly, which scored a run in Liberty's 11-5 win over Delaware at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium. He also scored two runs.

Jaffe finished the week by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a season-high six RBI in the Flames' 14-4 win over Delaware. He also walked, stole a base and scored twice in the game. His six RBI tied outfielder Nick Barone, who had three hits, all home runs, in a 17-7 victory at Duke on April 14, for the most RBI in a game by a Flame this season.

Kuhns turned in the best outing of his career, tossing an eight-inning, complete-game shutout in the first game of a Friday doubleheader, setting the tone for the day in which the Big Orange dominated from start to finish.

It marked the first complete-game of Kuhns' career and the first by a Tennessee pitcher since Marcus Phillips tossed a seven-inning, complete-game shutout against Florida in March of 2025. Kuhns allowed just three hits and one walk while racking up nine strikeouts to earn the win in a 10-0 run-rule victory, setting the Crimson Tide down in order five times over his eight innings of work.

Renfrow threw eight scoreless innings during the Hokies’ series-opening win against NC State. The Manassas, Virginia, native allowed just three hits, matching the lowest allowed to the Wolfpack this season.

Renfrow struck out nine Wolfpack batters, while throwing 76 of his 108 pitches for strikes. He retired 12 consecutive batters from the fourth to eighth innings en route to matching his career high in innings pitched.
