Tampa (9-0) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

The second in-season NCBWA Division II Poll of the 2024 season has been released, and there is a unanimous number one team in the University of Tampa Spartans. Off to a 9-0 start to the season, Tampa is the top-ranked team for the second straight week, with 9-1 North Greenville checking in at number two. Central Missouri and Indianapolis follow, with 10-0 UNC Pembroke rounding out the top five.

Wake Forest (3-0) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 27th year with its 2024 weekly surveys. Wake Forest (3-0) holds the top spot for the second straight week in succession, while LSU remains second amng the Top 25 rated teams.

Liberty's Bomberger named recipient of Russell D. Anderson/Wilbur Snypp Award

John Cox, a veteran of 45 years of broadcasts in Southern Miss athletics and regional award winner, is the 48th annual NCBWA Russell D. Anderson/Wilbur Snypp Award recipient for national contributions to college baseball.

White, Zayas are NCBWA Division II National Players of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on February 11, 2024. Northeastern State junior first baseman C.D. White is the National Hitter of the Week and Northwest Nazarene senior lefty Jonathan Zayas is the National Pitcher of the Week.

2024 Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List revealed

Seventy-three players have been named to the initial Watch List for the 19th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball, the association announced Wednesday. The institution or conference sports information directors submitted nominees.

Tampa (6-0) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

The first in-season NCBWA top 25 poll of the 2024 season has been released, with the Tampa Spartans taking over the number one spot. Reigning national champion Angelo State was the preseason number one team, dropping to number three after a 6-2 start, coupled with Tampa’s 6-0 start. The Spartans collected 11 of the 15 first-place votes.

Ball, Gayman are NCBWA Division II National Players of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its first NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending Feb. 4. Lubbock Christian senior third baseman Ryan Ball, is the National Hitter of the Week and Missouri Southern junior righty Cole Gayman is the National Pitcher of the Week.

NCBWA unveils 2024 Preseason All-America Team

In times when the NCAA transfer portal and NIL sometimes cause confusion in Division I athletics, the 2024 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All-America teams, presented by The Game Headwear, reflect loyalty to contending universities and some of the nation’s most talented diamond standouts. West Virginia’s J.J. Wetherholt, Preseason Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, and Jac Caglianone, Southeastern Conference standout and fellow 2023 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear finalist, head a solid list of returning post-2023 NCBWA All-America selections.

Angelo State tops 2024 NCBWA Division II Preseason Poll

Defending national champion Angelo State is the unanimous number one team in the preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 Poll, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. The Rams went 56-9 overall in 2023, going undefeated in Cary, N.C. to claim the national title. Angelo State was making its third consecutive appearance at the Division II National Championships last year.
