Colorado-Colorado Springs' Stubbings, Charleston's Webb are Division II National Players of the Week

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on April 17. University of Colorado-Colorado Springs first baseman Caleb Stubbings is the National Hitter of the Week and Charleston (W. Va.) pitcher Colt Webb is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Stubbings (Parker, Colo.) Stubbings was nothing short of impressive at the plate as the redshirt freshman hit .526 (10-for-19) with five home runs, a double, and 17 RBI in the series sweep of Colorado Christian. The starting first baseman had a home run and at least three RBI in all four games as he boasted a 1.868 OPS behind a 1.368 slugging percentage. Stubbings started the series by going yard twice for his second straight multi-home run game of the season. He then followed it up with another 3-for-5 day in game two for a series-high six RBI, which included a two-run home run.

Webb (Newport, N.C.) picked up two wins on the mound for Charleston this week, including a no-hitter against Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon. Against the Senators, Webb allowed just four base runners (2 BB, HBP, dropped third strike) and struck out seven during his no-hitter performance. The no-hitter was the ninth in UC history, but first since 2000. He also allowed just one run in six-innings of work against Wesleyan to earn a win earlier in the week.
