DePauw's Stevenson, McDaniel's Beckett are USBWA Division III National Players of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – Reph Stevenson of DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.) and Elaina Beckett of McDaniel College (Westminster, Md.) were named the Basketball Writers Association Division III National Players of the Week for the period ending November 23.

Stevenson, a 6-9 junior forward from Fishers, Ind., averaged a double-double and posted the highest point total in the NCAA this season in leading DePauw to a pair of victories last week. He scored a career-high 49 points (21-of-28 FG, 7-of-10 FT), the highest total at any NCAA Division this season, in the Tigers’ 108-100 victory over Greenville on Wednesday. He added 14 rebounds and a block in the contest. Then, in Saturday’s 86-79 win over Franklin, Stevenson finished with 26 points (9-of-12 FG, 8-of-11 FT), 14 rebounds, one steal, and four blocks. For the week, he averaged 37.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 0.5 steals, and 2.5 steals, while shooting 75.0 percent (30-of-40) from the field and 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the foul line. For his efforts, Stevenson was also named the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Player of the Week.

Beckett, a 6-0 senior forward from Mechanicsburg, Pa., filled up the stat sheet in guiding McDaniel to two wins last week. Against Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday, she totaled 25 points (9-of-12 FG, 4-of-4 FT, 3-of-3 3FG), seven rebounds, an assist, three steals, and two blocked shots in the Green Terror’s 82-31 victory. In Saturday’s 73-38 win against Eastern, Beckett scored 30 points (13-of-25 FG, 3-of-4 FT, 1-of-7 3FG) for the second time this season while adding 10 rebounds, six assists, seven steals, and a block. For the week, she averaged 27.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 5.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 59.5 percent (22-of-37) from the field, 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the foul line and 40.0 percent (4-of-10) from behind the arc. For her efforts, Beckett was selected Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Each Tuesday, the USBWA is selecting men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week. This is the 11th season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers.
