DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 29th year with its 2026 weekly surveys.
LSU holds down the top spot for the second week in succession after the defending NCAA champion swept Milwaukee to open the campaign. Texas jumped from No. 3 to No. 2 after starting 3-0 while the Nos. 3-5 entries are UCLA, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.
Some of the top moves from the preseason to Week Two polls are North Carolina from No. 12 to 9, Florida State from No. 14 to 11, Kentucky from No. 21 to 18, Oklahoma from receiving votes to No. 19 after sweeping Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and TCU in the Shriners Children’s Showdown over the weekend, and West Virginia from No. 27 to 23.
The Southeastern Conference (11) and Atlantic Coast Conference (eight) members currently occupy 19 of the Top 25 placements.
There have been six conferences (five this week plus independent Oregon State) represented in the first two standings of 2026, and there were 10 different conferences in the 2025 NCBWA polls.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
