Tampa (6-0) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The first in-season NCBWA top 25 poll of the 2024 season has been released, with the Tampa Spartans taking over the number one spot. Reigning national champion Angelo State was the preseason number one team, dropping to number three after a 6-2 start, coupled with Tampa’s 6-0 start. The Spartans collected 11 of the 15 first-place votes.

2022 national champion North Greenville moved up one spot to number two in the poll, with Angelo State, Central Missouri and UIndy rounding out the top five. Point Loma jumped from 21 to eighth, while UNC Pembroke, off to a 6-0 start, checks in at number nine after being in the receiving votes category in the preseason poll.

There are eight new teams in this week’s poll, seven of which did not receive a single vote in the preseason poll. Lynn and Young Harris are ranked 15th and 16th in this week’s poll, the highest ranked teams in the poll that did not get a preseason vote.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
