North Greenville (45-8) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

PEMBROKE, N.C. (NCBWA) – North Greenville will be the team to beat when the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament opens up play on Thursday as the Crusaders hauled in 15 of the available 19 first-place votes to top the final regular season edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II Top 25 on Wednesday.

North Greenville headlines a loaded NCAA Southeast Region that features five teams with 38 victories or more, including defending national champion Wingate (No. 5) who will take on host duties as well in their half of the 7-team postseason tournament. Tampa raked in a trio of first-place votes on Wednesday to keep hold of the No. 2 spot, while Point Loma grabbed ahold of the final first-place vote in Wednesday’s poll before settling into the No. 4 position.

Davenport (No. 15) is back in the national ranking for the first time since February 16 (Week 1), while Henderson State (No. 17) and Rollins (No. 19) return as well after previously appearing in the listing earlier this season. Wayne State (Mich.) graced Wednesday’s Top 25 ranking for the first time since the final poll of the 2019 season (June 11, 2019).
