Virginia running back Mike Hollins is the 22nd annual recipient of the Capital One Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award. Hollins survived the 2022 shootings that took the lives of three of his UVA teammates and played in 11 games this fall for the Cavaliers, leading the team in rushing touchdowns.

The 2023 Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, is highlighted by seven repeat All-Americans and a record 10 players from the four teams competing in the College Football Playoff at the front of players from 36 different schools. There are 22 schools represented from eight Football Bowl Subdivision conferences on the first team and all 10 conferences plus an Independent are included on the overall 54-man team.

This is the 12th installment of the Football Writers Association of America's weekly Freshman Focus for the Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year Award, Freshman Player of the Year and the 2023 FWAA Freshman All-America Team.

The Virginia Cavaliers went to No. 10 North Carolina and earned their first road win in program history over a top-10 team with a 31-27 victory in Chapel Hill. The first win over a top-10 opponent since 2005 has earned Virginia the Cheez-It National Team of the Week for games the weekend of Oct. 21, as selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America.

Virginia's Mike Hollins is the first weekly nominee for the 2023 Capital One Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award. Hollins, a graduate student, has played in all three games for the Cavaliers this season after surviving the Nov. 13, 2022 shootings that took the lives of three of his UVA teammates.

Two first-time winners and nine previous ones comprise the 14th Super 11 Awards, which the Football Writers Association of America give out annually to the best performing College Sports Communicators departments in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The awards announced this week are for the 2022 season.

DALLAS (FWAA) � The Virginia Cavaliers snapped a 15-game losing streak in the Commonwealth Cup series, scoring twice in the final two minutes for a 39-30 win over Virginia Tech that also gave them the ACC's Coastal Division title for the first time. For earning a ninth regular-season win for only the eighth time in school history, Virginia (9-3) earned the Reveal Suits National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Nov. 30.

The Football Writers Association of America has announced its fourth "Super 11" field of sports information departments which were deemed the best in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision during the 2012 season.
