DALLAS (FWAA) – The Missouri Tigers controlled the trenches against rival Kansas on Saturday, grinding out two 100-yard running backs and clearing space for a 300-yard passer in their 42-31 win at Faurot Field. For his play leading the offensive line as Missouri gained 595 total yards and moved to 2-0 for a third consecutive season, guard Dominick Giudice has earned the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week honor for games during the weekend of Sept. 6, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
This is the third season for the FWAA to select an Outland Trophy National Player of the Week as part of the NCFAA's weekly national honors from 12 awards. The recipient of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Dec. 12. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 21, 2026.
The weekly winners, including Giudice this week, are added to the preseason Outland Trophy watch list going forward. Missouri has not had a finalist for the Outland Trophy in its past.
Giudice (pronounced Joo-Deece) opened holes for a 261-yard rushing effort by the Tigers, with Jamal Roberts (143 yards) and Ahmad Hardy (112) topping the century mark and posting career highs. It marked the first time since 2017 for the Tigers to have two players top 100 yards in the same game. Roberts’ 63-yard touchdown burst in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career and gave the Tigers a 42-31 lead with 1:49 left.
The 6-4, 312-pound guard from Freehold, N.J., has been a welcome addition to the Mizzou front since transferring from Michigan in the offseason following a 412-snap career over four seasons with the Wolverines. He had five starts at center in 2024 and was a four-year letterman.
Giudice, also named the SEC’s Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week, created enough passing protection against Kansas for quarterback Beau Pribula to post career highs in total passing yards (334) and his longest pass at 50 yards. Pribula’s 334 total was the most by a Tiger since Chase Daniel in 2007.
The Tigers’ offensive totals of 300+ passing yards with a 100-yard receiver (Kevin Coleman Jr.) and 200+ rushing yards is their best mark since facing Florida in 2023.
From the Tigers’ staff, he graded out at a team-best 88 percent with no penalties and no missed assignments.
The win extended Mizzou’s home win streak to 12 games and pushed Mizzou to 23-5 since the start of the 2023 season – tied for the eighth-most wins in the nation over that stretch.
Missouri hosts Louisiana (1-1) at 4 p.m. ET Saturday in a non-conference tilt broadcast on the ESPN+ and SEC+ Networks.
The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from finalists who are a part of the annual FWAA All-America Team. The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the entire membership, selects a 26-man first team and eventually three Outland finalists. Committee members, then by individual ballot, select the winner. Only interior linemen on offense or defense are eligible for the award; ends are not eligible.
The Outland Trophy, celebrating 80 years since its founding, is the third-oldest major college football award. Created in 1946 when Dr. John Outland presented the FWAA with a financial contribution to initiate the award, the Outland Trophy has been given to the best interior lineman in college football ever since. Dr. Outland, an All-American at the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1890s, eventually took up practice in Kansas City, Mo. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Outland believed linemen did not get the credit they deserved and wanted an award to recognize them.
The Outland Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
