NCBWA NAMES DIVISION I NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 4. Miami sophomore catcher Adrian Del Castillo was named National Hitter of the Week, while Ohio State redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Seth Lonsway was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Del Castillo batted .471 (8-for-17) with three doubles, seven RBI and six runs scored to lead Miami to a 4-0 week that included an ACC series sweep of Duke. The Miami native was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a career-high four RBI in Miami's 21-2 rout of FIU, and he keyed Miami's series-clinching win over the Blue Devils on Saturday with a 3-for-5 effort that included a pair of RBI and two runs scored. He went 2-for-4 and drove in another run in Sunday's win.

Lonsway was dominant in the best start of his career in a 6-0, seven-inning win over Indiana. The Celina, Ohio, native threw a complete-game two-hitter and recorded 17 strikeouts of the 21 outs in the game. The 17 Ks were a career-high, and he walked just one batter while throwing 95 pitches.

The only outs that didn't come via strikeout were a double play up the middle in the fourth, a groundout in the fifth and a lineout in the seventh.
