INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has named five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week for games of the week ending Sunday, March 1.
For the 2025-26 season, the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.
Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from among all Division I players, including the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week's selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.
Following are the five players selected for performances this past week:
Christian Anderson, Texas Tech (Big 12)
Anderson, a 6-3 sophomore guard from Atlanta, averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in a pair of wins to capture his third Big 12 Player of the Week honor of the season. In the 80-68 win over Cincinnati, Anderson scored 31 points to go along with a career-high 11 rebounds and seven assists. He later had 14 points and seven assists as the Red Raiders defeated then-No. 4 Iowa State on the road, 82-73. In the span since the injury to his teammate JT Toppin, the guard is tied for 10th among all power conference players with 22.0 points per game, to go along with his full-season average of a Big 12-leading 7.7 assists.
Mikey Lewis, St. Mary’s (WCC)
Mikey Lewis, a 6-3 sophomore guard from Oakland, Calif., scored 21 points and a career-high seven assists with four steals in the Gaels' win over Santa Clara to start the two-win week. Then, against Gonzaga, Lewis notched a career-high 31 points, including seven treys, while collecting five rebounds and four assists. Lewis has now scored in double figures in eight straight games, a career best. He joined Paulius Murauskas as the only two Gaels to score over 30 points in a game this year. This is the first conference weekly award for Lewis this season and Saint Mary's has won six collectively as a team. Lewis was the West Coast Conference's Player of the Week.
TJ Power, Penn (Ivy League)
Power, a 6-9 junior forward from Shrewsbury, Mass., scored 38 points last Friday against Dartmouth, the fifth-highest scoring game in program history. Perhaps more impressively, 22 of those points came in the second half as Penn overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to beat the Big Green, 80-71. At one point the junior had scored 38 of Penn's 70 points, and by the same token he had 22 of the Quakers' first 36 points in the second half. Power shot 14-22 from the field, including 6-8 on three-pointers, and added a game-high 12 rebounds. The next night, against Harvard, Power scored all of his nine points (on a trio of treys) in the second half as the Quakers overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to down the Crimson, 64-61. He also led Penn with nine boards, flirting with his second double-double in as many nights. This is his second time for Power to earn the Ivy League Player of the Week this season.
Jordan Riley, ECU (American)
Riley, a 6-5 senior guard from Brentwood, N.Y., averaged 29.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 4.0 steals in a pair of wins. In a tough road win at UTSA, he scored 27 points with four rebounds, three assists, and six steals. Riley then scored 31 points with 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals in home win over Memphis. It was his seventh 30-point game and fourth double-double of the season. Riley is the American Conference Player of the Week.
Seth Trimble, North Carolina (ACC)
Trimble, a 6-3 senior guard from Menomonee Falls, Wis., averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in UNC’s wins over No. 24 Louisville and Virginia Tech. He scored a career-high 30 points and led UNC with four assists in the 77-74 win over Louisville. The 30-point effort against Louisville was the most by a Tar Heel this season and the first 30-point game by a Tar Heel in two seasons. It was the second time this season and in his career that he scored 20 or more points in consecutive games, shooting 11-for-16 from the floor against the Cardinals. He scored 20 points against Virginia Tech on 7-for-12 shooting and led UNC again with four assists. Trimble scored 27 of his 50 points in the two games in the second half (14 vs. Louisville and 13 against Virginia Tech). He was the ACC's Player of the Week.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the USBWA will name finalists for the award, which is voted on by the entire membership. The winner of the award will be announced at the 2026 Men's Final Four in Indianapolis, with the formal presentation to follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 800 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
