INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has named five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week for games of the week ending Sunday, Dec. 14.
For the 2025-26 season, the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.
Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week's selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.
Following are the five players selected for performances this past week:
Myles Colvin Jr., Wake Forest (ACC)
The junior guard from Indianapolis scored a career-high 33 points on 11-of-13 shooting, while going 7-of-8 from three to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Demon Deacons’ 111-73 win on Sunday against Queens. Twenty-six of his 33 points came in the first half, most by a Demon Deacon since Randolph Childress scored 27 in a half against Duke on March 10, 1995, in the ACC Tournament. Making his first seven three-point attempts, Colvin matched Jonah Antonio (Feb. 13, 2021) for the best 3-point shooting percentage in a single game in program history on eight attempts. And, he is the first ACC player this season to shoot 84 percent or better on at least 13 attempts and just the 13th player nationally this season to do so against a Division I opponent.
Melvin Council Jr., Kansas (Big 12)
Council scored a career-high 36 points while making nine 3-pointers, the most for a Big 12 player in a single-game since the 2022-23 season. The senior transfer from St. Bonaventure scored the Jayhawks’ final 13 points in regulation, and 18 of the team’s final 25 points, in the 77-76 overtime win at NC State. The guard from Rochester, N.J., added seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in the game, while not committing a turnover.
Graham Ike, Gonzaga (West Coast)
Ike posted his fifth 20-point outing of the season and propelled No. 8 Gonzaga to a double-digit win over No. 25 UCLA in Seattle last Saturday. After scoring a season-high 28 points in his previous appearance, Ike secured 25 points in the victory over the Bruins. Along with his five rebounds, the Aurora, Colo., product dished out a career-high five assists.
Dennis Parker Jr., Radford (Big South)
The 6-6 junior guard from Richmond, Va., broke the Big South Conference and Radford school single-game scoring record with 53 points in Sunday’s win over Coppin State. The 53 points are the most points scored by a Division I player this season, and the most by any Division I player since Dec. 13, 2019. Parker scored 35 points in the second half, was 19-of-24 overall from the field (79.2%) – the most field goals ever made by a Highlander – and made 10-of-14 three-point attempts (71.4%). He added eight rebounds plus an assist and steal during his record-breaking performance. Parker eclipsed the previous Radford high of 43 points, and bettered the conference record of 51 that was set in 2017.
Lamar Wilkerson, Indiana (Big Ten)
The senior guard from Ashdown, Ark., averaged 29.5 points on 63.6 percent shooting from the floor, including 12-20 from three-point range, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game the Hoosiers splits a pair of games last week. Last Tuesday, Wilkerson notched a career-high 44 points in a 113-72 rout Penn State – a Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall record – and a program-record 10 made three-pointers in less than 24 minutes of action. He added 15 points and two rebounds in a 72-60 loss at Kentucky on Saturday.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the USBWA will name finalists for the award, which is voted on by the entire membership. The winner of the award will be announced at the 2026 Men's Final Four in Indianapolis, with the formal presentation to follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 800 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
