Iowa State's Momcilivic headlines Oscar Robertson Trophy National Players of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has named five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week for games of the week ending Sunday, Dec. 7.

For the 2025-26 season, the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.

Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week's selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.

Following are the five players selected for performances this past week:

Cameron Boozer, Duke (ACC)
In a pair of top-15 victories last week, freshman sensation Cameron Boozer averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 82% from the free-throw line. In the Blue Devils' 67-66 victory over then-No. 15 Florida in the ACC/SEC Challenge, he posted 29 points, six boards, two assists and a steal, marking his fifth game this season of 25 points or more. Then, in Duke's 66-60 win at No. 7 Michigan State, the ACC Player of the Week recorded his fifth double-double with 18 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, a team-best five assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

He made 14 of his 23 shot attempts to go with seven boards in the rivalry win. Carroll posted 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a win over Saint Francis to start the week.

Cruz Davis, Hofstra (CAA)
The CAA Player of the Week, Cruz Davis put forth an incredible week for Hofstra, notably guiding the Pride to an 80-73 win at ACC foe Pitt. The Plano, Texas product averaged 30.0 points on 56.1% shooting from the floor with 4.0 made 3-pointers per game. He also chipped in 4.5 assists per outing. The senior guard did it all on Sunday as he poured in a career-high 36 points as Hofstra took down Pitt for its first win over an ACC opponent since 2015. Davis, who added seven assists and two rebounds, shot 14-of-25 from the field overall and 5-for-11 from distance. The 36 points are the most by a player in the CAA this season.

Iowa State's win also represented Purdue’s largest margin of defeat inside Mackey Arena for a non-conference game. The junior from Pewaukee, Wis., was 8-of-17 from the field. The forward also hit eight consecutive 3-pointers and scored 27 points in Iowa State’s 132-68 win over Alcorn State as the team set a Big 12 single-game record with 22 3-pointers. For the week, Momcilovic averaged 23.5 points and 3.5 steals to earn his first Big 12 weekly award.

Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the USBWA will name finalists for the award, which is voted on by the entire membership. The winner of the award will be announced at the 2026 Men's Final Four in Indianapolis, with the formal presentation to follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 800 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
