WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 17 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the ninth straight week. The Spartans enter NCAA Tourney play at 43-7 overall.
The top five is unchanged from last week, with Angelo State picking up the other three first-place votes, posting a 45-8 record. Central Missouri, Catawba and UT Tyler once again round out the top five. Millersville is up two spots to number seven this week, while Northwest Nazarene jumps up six spots, checking in at number eight. Davenport climbs up seven spots, ranking ninth this week, while Florida Southern rounds out the top 10 for the second straight week.
Two new teams enter the poll this week, with Cal State Monterey Bay checking in at #19 and Belmont Abbey at #21.
This is the final NCBWA top 25 poll until after the national championship game. Regional play gets underway this Thursday, with the Division II championships taking place in Cary, N.C. from May 30 through June 7.

Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
