Tampa (38-6) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 19 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the seventh straight week.

Angelo State and Central Missouri remain second and third, with Catawba moving up two spots to number four this week and UT Tyler remaining fifth. Westmont, Minnesota State, Grand Valley State, Millersville and North Greenville round out the top 10.

Northwest Nazarene, Young Harris and Pittsburg State each moved up two spots to check in at #13, 14 and 15 this week, while East Stroudsburg jumped up six spots to number 16. Lenoir-Rhyne and Davenport also moved up three spots each, checking in at 17th and 18th, respectively. The only new team to the poll this week is Fort Hays State, entering the poll at #25.

The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
