NCBWA ANNOUNCES DIVISION III AWARDS

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Johns Hopkins University centerfielder Dave Kahn (Sr. Hyde Park, N.Y.) its 2010 NCAA Division III Position Player of the Year and Chapman University·s Brian Rauh (Fr., Lake Forest, Calif.) its Pitcher of the Year.


Kahn, a unanimous pick of the eight NCAA Division III sports information directors, was named American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com first-team All-America and the Centennial Conference Position Player of the Year with a .458 batting average, 73 runs scored, 16 doubles, five triples, 16 home runs, 71 RBI, an .872 slugging percentage, a .512 on-base percentage and 18 stolen bases.


Rauh, who picked up four-of-eight first-place votes, earned ABCA and D3baseball.com first-team All-America honors with a 10-0 record, a 2.42 earned run average, 10.78 strikeouts per nine innings, 2.42 walks per nine innings and a .176 opponent batting average.

ABCA second-team All-America and first-team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference with a .446 batting average, 11 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 65 RBI, a .741 slugging percentage, a .502 on-base percentage and six stolen bases.
