Fri., April 18: The Football Writers Association
of America has released its 2008 Outland Trophy Watch
List. Seventy standout linemen from around the country
have been nominated for consideration in the preseason.
Only centers, tackles and guards are eligible for the
Outland Trophy, which has been awarded to the best interior
lineman in college football annually since 1946.

Jan. 4: Kansas' Mangino wins 2007 Eddie Robinson
Award: "Mark Mangino won 11 regular-season games
and a BCS bowl game at a school which traditionally
has not been a major player in college football,"
said FWAA executive director Steve Richardson. "That,
in itself, is reason enough for the award to go
to him."
