DALLAS (FWAA) – Georgetown is the winner of the Cheez-It Crunch Time Play of the Week for Week 6 as Jimmy Kibble leaped and grabbed a 49-yard Hail Mary pass as time expired in a thrilling 27-24 win over Morgan State, as selected by the All-America Commitee of the Football Writers Association of America.
Morgan State had clawed back from an early 14-0 deficit, stringing together four straight scoring drives, including a dazzling reverse pass touchdown from Dante Archie to Justin Perry late in the third quarter to take a 24-21 lead. Their defense then delivered clutch stops, including a fourth-and-3 stand with just 32 seconds left, seemingly locking up the win.
But Georgetown wasn’t done.
Quarterback Dez Thomas II, after two incomplete passes, hit Brock Biestek for 16 yards to midfield and, with time for one play, Thomas launched a desperation heave from the Morgan 49. Wide receiver Jimmy Kibble soared above defenders and came down with the ball in the end zone as time expired, delivering a walk-off win on Homecoming day.
Kibble’s 49-yard touchdown catch was his longest of the season and capped a five-catch, 110-yard performance. Thomas finished with 211 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 91 rushing yards. The Hoyas improved to 3-3 on the season.
Georgetown head coach Rob Sgarlata called it one of the top three finishes in program history, praising his team’s resilience and Kibble’s brilliance: “Jimmy Kibble is the best receiver in the FCS. I’ve been saying that for two years now and he showed why today."
The 2025 season marks the first year the FWAA has presented the award under its new name, the Cheez-It Crunch Time Play of the Week, spotlighting the single most decisive play from the weekend’s games. Each winning team receives a custom Cheez-It care package delivered to its campus.
