Hail Mary TD pass earns Jax State the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week

DALLAS (FWAA) – Florida Citrus Sports and Pop-Tarts have teamed up to present the Pop-Tarts ‘Crazy Good’ Play of the Week during the 2024-25 college football season, with each week's play selected in conjunction with the Football Writers Association of America.

Now in its second season, the award celebrates incredible athleticism, awe-inspiring strategy and jaw-dropping “did you see that?” moments from across the college football landscape each week.

Jax State is the winner of the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week for Week 11 for its Hail Mary touchdown pass at the end of regulation led to a 44-37 overtime win at Louisiana Tech.

The Gamecocks ran out to a 21-7 lead in Ruston but found themselves trailing 37-31 with one play left in regulation with 49 yards to go. Staring at defeat, quarterback Tyler Huff launched a desperation heave to the back of the endzone, where the ball landed safely – and improbably – in the arms of receiver Cam Vaughn. Despite missing the game-winning extra point, the Gamecocks ultimately pulled the win out in overtime, securing bowl eligibility with a 44-37 win.

Throughout the season, the FWAA is announcing the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week at the conclusion of each week's games, after the FWAA All-America committee selects one outstanding play each weekend during the regular season. All NCAA Division I schools are eligible

To celebrate the honor, each winning team receives a care package of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries.

The Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week follows Pop-Tarts' entry into college football with the Pop-Tarts Bowl, organized and managed by Florida Citrus Sports, and fans can nominate their favorite plays through the Pop-Tarts social media accounts (@PopTartsBowl).
