ST. LOUIS (USBWA) – Lorenzo Williams of Brooklyn College (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Hannah Considine of Wheaton College (Wheaton, Ill.) were named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Players of the Week for the week ending Jan. 11.

Williams, a 6-4 junior forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., notched three double-doubles in a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs (12-3, 5-2), a member of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). Williams averaged 21.0 points on 49.0 percent (24-49) shooting from the field and 78.9 percent (15-19) from the foul line, along with 12.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game. In a 75-63 win over York (N.Y.) College (9-5, 4-2) on Tuesday, he totaled 27 points and a career-high 13 rebounds while shooting .692 (9-13) from the field. Williams followed that up with 17 points and 11 rebounds during an 85-79 win over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) College (9-5) on Thursday. He concluded the week with a near triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and a career-best eight assists in a road loss at Baruch College (9-3. 6-0) on Saturday.

Considine, a 6-0 junior center from Baraboo, Wisc., averaged 24 points and 16 rebounds per game last week. She shot 65.4 percent (17-26) from the field and helped keep the No. 12-ranked (D3hoops.com) Thunder (13-1, 3-0) of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) undefeated in conference play. Considine started the week on Wednesday with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 72-46 win at Illinois Wesleyan (6-8, 0-3), shooting 3-4 from the field and 7-8 from the foul line, while also picking up two blocks and a steal. Considine then posted career highs of 36 points (14-22 from the field) and 21 rebounds in a 100-86 win over previously-unbeaten and then-No. 24-ranked North Central College (13-1, 2-1) on Saturday. Her 36 points were the fifth-highest single-game total in Wheaton history, while her 21 rebounds was the second highest. Nationally, Considine’s 36 points is the 15th-highest single-game scoring total in Division III this season and her 21 rebounds ranks as the 20th highest.

Each Tuesday, the USBWA is selecting men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week. This is the first season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
