Tampa (42-5) tops NCBWA Division II Poll

WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – For the 13th straight week, the University of Tampa Spartans are the top-ranked team in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) top 25 poll. Tampa received 19 of the 20 first-place votes, making this just the third time in the last 12 weeks UT has not been the unanimous number one team this season. The Spartans are 42-5 on the season and have been the top-ranked team in every in-season NCBWA poll this year, after checking in at #3 in the preseason poll.

The top three continue to be Tampa, Central Missouri and North Greenville, while Point Loma once again checks in at number four. There was plenty of change after that, with Lubbock Christian moving up four spots to crack the top five this week. West Chester cracks the top 10 at number eight, after ranking 17th last week, while Augustana moves up three spots to check in at number nine. UIndy rounds out the top 10, jumping up 10 spots from last week.

UNC Pembroke and Angelo State check in at #12 and #13 after being in the receiving votes category last week. Saginaw Valley State is another big riser, going from 23rd last week to #16 this week. East Stroudsburg is up to 18th after being 25th in last week’s poll.

The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, with a new top 25 national poll coming out every Wednesday. Next week’s poll (May 15) will be the final poll until after the national championship game.
