Nett, Covey are NCBWA Division II National Players of the Week

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week
ending on March 31, 2024. Southwest Minnesota State senior outfielder Isaac Nett is the National Hitter of the Week and Concordia University Irvine
redshirt-junior righty Jake Covey is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Nett (Albany, Minn. / Albany HS) led SMSU to a four-game sweep of Bemidji Sate as he hit .588 (10 for 17) with four home runs, three doubles, 17 RBI,
eight runs scored and 25 total bases. He also walked four times, stole two bags and finished with a 1.471 slugging percentage, along with a .667 on-base
percentage. He tied the school-record with three home runs and finished with seven RBI in SMSU’s game three victory. Nett became the fourth player in
team history to hit three home runs in one game. He hit a home run in his first at bat in one game and then walked four-straight times to tie another
school single-game record.

Covey (Costa Mesa, Calif. / Orange Coast College) cooled off a hot-hitting Azusa Pacific offense with 16 strikeouts in a complete game nine-inning Golden
Eagle victory. Covey scattered five hits and walked just one batter in pitching his team to the 4-1 win over the Cougars. Covey struck out the first four
batters of the game, struck out the side twice, and recorded at least two strikeouts in six of the nine innings including the final frame.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year
and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
