ANGELO STATE TOPS NCBWA DIVISION II POLL

PEMBROKE, N.C. (NCBWA) North Greenville became the newest team to rake in a first-place vote this season after a weekend sweep of Emmanuel, but Angelo State continued its reign atop the NCBWA Division II Top 25 after picking up 15 first-place votes of its own in the latest release of the national ranking on Wednesday afternoon.

The ranking welcomed a new team to its top 10 this week as Lee jumped up 11 spots to No. 9 following a 3-1 week on the diamond, including a convincing series sweep of Christian Brothers. It is the first top-10 appearance for the Flames in the 18-year history of the NCBWA Division II Top 25.

Two teams make their season debut in the top 25 this week. Shorter, which already has series wins over Delta State and West Florida in 2021, made its program debut in the national ranking after a series sweep of Bluefield State. North Georgia returned to the NCBWA Division II Top 25 for the first time since the 2020 preseason release thanks to a series sweep of Francis Marion.
