UC SAN DIEGO TOPS NCBWA DIVISION II POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) UC San Diego became the latest team to make its way through what has become a revolving door atop the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 this week after collecting 13 first-place votes to grab the No. 1 ranking for the first time since Feb. 22, 2011 (Week 1).

The Tritons stretched their win streak out to five games with a four-game series sweep of Cal State San Bernardino over the weekend, and have now captured nine of their last 11 contests as well. UC San Diego boasts the NCAA Division II's second-best staff ERA (2.54), as well as the country's fourth-best defensive team (.977 fielding percentage).

Two teams re-entered the poll this week, including Mississippi College (No. 17) who stretched its win streak out to nine games with a doubleheader sweep of Shorter on Friday. Mount Olive (No. 25) is back in the Top 25 after taking two of three games with then-No. 1 North Greenville over the weekend.
