OREGON STATE TOPS NCBWA DIVISION I POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 21st year with its 2018 weekly surveys. For the third-straight week the Pac-12 holds down two of the top three spots, with No. 1 Oregon State and Stanford at No. 3. However, the SEC has five of the top 10 positions, led by No. 2 Florida.

Oregon State remains No. 1 after defeating Washington in a Pac-12 series, 2-1. The Beavers are now 20-2 on the season.

The Gators stay put at No. 2 after going 3-1 last week, including a series win over then-No. 4 Arkansas.

Stanford was impressive in a three-game series sweep of USC, outscoring the Trojans 34-2 to improve to 17-2 on the year.

Ole Miss moves up one spot to No. 4 after a 3-1 week, including a series win over SEC foe Texas A&M.

Some shuffling in the five and six spots, as Florida State moves up one to No. 5 after a 4-1 week, while Arkansas drops to No. 6 after losing a series to No. 2 Florida.

Kentucky is up two to No. 7 after a 3-1 week, including a series win over top-25 Auburn.

Texas Tech moves up two spots to No. 8 after an undefeated 4-0 week.

Vanderbilt is down one to No. 9 this week after going 2-2. They are now 17-7 on the season.

The only newcomer to the top 10 this week is North Carolina State, moving up three spots to No. 10 after defeating Georgia Tech in an ACC series.

Coastal Carolina is the biggest mover of the week, jumping up from No. 30 to No. 23 after a 4-0 week.

Illinois joins the rankings this week at No. 25, followed by San Diego State at 26, Georgia at 27 and College of Charleston at 30.

The 2018 poll voters come from among 35 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. After a preseason Top 35 listing, the remainder of the polls will feature a national Top 30 beginning with the Feb. 19 NCBWA DI survey.

The current survey has representation by 12 different conferences among the 299 baseball-playing schools in the 2018 NCAA Division I ranks. The rankings of 2017 had 13 different DI conferences rated at least one week. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
