'Noles are fifth team to top Baseball Writers poll in 2006
FLORIDA STATE TOPS NCBWA TOP 30 POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the ninth year with its 2006 preseason predictions and weekly surveys. Weekly polls will continue through June 27, following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Florida State won three of its four games this week including two of three vs. Virginia Tech to improve to 21-2 and vault to the top of the NCBWA Top 30. The Seminoles, among three ACC teams in the top five, are the fifth different team to sit atop the poll this season. North Carolina moved up to No. 2, while Georgia Tech, No. 1 a week ago, fell to No. 5.

The ACC, with seven total teams in the poll, joins the SEC with the most ranked teams of any conference. Overall, this week's poll has representation by ten different conferences among the 284 baseball-playing schools in the NCAA Division I ranks.
