E-Mail
Cody Monk’s passion for sports is as deep-rooted as his varied
experience. He has covered events on four continents and used his language
skills to write and work in the agriculture, journalism, education,
airline and petroleum sectors.
That background has brought HiTEX! Enterprises success in a myriad of
arenas. Initially, Monk led the company to its relationship with, among
others, the Football Writers Association of America. Now, he has also
put HiTEX! on the forefront of emerging Latin American markets with
the founding of ¡Realizar el Sueño!, an English language and
cultural integration program for Latin American baseball prospects.
Monk is an authority on Latin baseball and, in particular, baseball
in the Dominican Republic. He is a regular in the Spanish-speaking media,
both domestically and internationally, discussing the cultural and anthropological
effects of sports in the Latino-American community and on Latin nations.
Monk is the author of Alfonso Soriano: The Dominican Dream Come True
and Legends of the Dallas Cowboys, as well as their Spanish translations.
He is also the co-author of Have More Money Now with World Wrestling
Entertainment's John "Bradshaw" Layfield.
Monk has taught Spanish on the university level and is currently pursuing
a graduate degree in Latin American studies at the University of Miami,
where he is studying on a full fellowship and teaching assistantship
at the university’s Center for Sport and Society.
