KANSAS STATE IS TOSTITOS FIESTA BOWL
NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (FWAA) – Kansas State rolled into Norman, Okla., and stole a rare win on Oklahoma's home field, 24-19, to earn the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week honors for games of the weekend of Sept. 22. The announcement came exclusively on SiriusXM Radio's "College Sports Today," hosted by Mark Packer and Eddie George.

Jarell Childs returned a fumble for Kansas State's first touchdown, and the Wildcats advantage of another turnover to score the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Following Ty Zimmerman's interception, quarterback Collin Klein scored from five yards out to put K-State ahead, 17-13.

The Wildcats (4-0) scored 17 points off of Oklahoma's three turnovers and won for the first time at Oklahoma since 1997.

“We knew it would be a battle and it was exactly that," Klein said. "We credit everyone for hanging together."

Other Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week nominees for the weekend of Sept. 22 included:

• Central Michigan (2-1): Senior kicker David Harman nailed a 47-yard field goal with three seconds left, earning the Chippewas a dramatic road win at Iowa. CMU trailed 31-23 before scoring nine points in the final 45 seconds for the win, converting an onside kick to set up the final score after missing a two-point conversion to tie moments earlier. Harman connected on all four field goal tries in the game.
• Florida State (4-0): The Seminoles took early control of the ACC race with a come-from-behind 49-37 win over Clemson. EJ Manuel tallied career highs in passing yards (380) and rushing yards (102), scoring two touchdowns along the way. FSU trailed, 28-14, with 11:48 left in the third quarter, but rolled up 35 points in the final 26 minutes.
• Oregon State (2-0): The Beavers shut down UCLA in the Rose Bowl, and Sean Mannion threw for a career-high 379 yards and two touchdowns to key the win. It was a second win over a nationally-ranked team for OSU in as many games. The Beavers held UCLA's Johnathan Franklin, the nation's leading rusher entering the game with a 180-yard average, to 45 yards on 12 carries.

The Football Writers Association of America has named a national team of the week since the 2002 season. This is the eighth season that the award has been sponsored by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Members of the FWAA All-America Committee decide the weekly honor. Each remaining Monday during the 2012 college football regular season, the FWAA will name the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week. The winner will be announced through Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m. ET on the SiriusXM College Sports Nation channel.

Founded in 1971, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl has hosted seven games that have decided the college football national championship, including four Bowl Championship Series title games. This season, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be played on Jan. 3, 2013, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl will be played on Dec. 29, 2012, at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

The Football Writers Association of America, a non-profit organization founded in 1941, consists of more than 1,200 men and women who cover college football for a living. The membership includes journalists, broadcasters and publicists, as well as key executives in all the areas that involve the game.
