OKLAHOMA IS TOSTITOS FIESTA
BOWL NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (FWAA) With their 47-17 win over Florida State, the Oklahoma Sooners (2-0) are the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week for games of the weekend of Sept. 11.

Sophomore quarterback Landry Jones completed 30-of-40 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns as the Sooners rolled to a 34-7 halftime advantage. Junior Ryan Broyles caught 12 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

The win extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 32 games.

"We knew who we were, we knew what we were capable of, and we came out here and showed what we're capable of today," Jones said after the game.

Other Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week nominees for the weekend of Sept. 11 included:

James Madison (1-0): The Dukes stunned No. 13 Virginia Tech, 21-16, in Blacksburg. Quarterback Drew Dudzik ran for two second-half touchdowns as JMU handed the Hokies their first loss to an FCS team since 1985.

Kansas (1-0): The Jayhawks rebounded for a season-opening loss to upset No. 15 Georgia Tech, 28-25, in Lawrence to give head coach Turner Gill his first win at the school. In his first career start, redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan Webb tossed three touchdown passes to spark the upset.

The Football Writers Association of America has named a national team of the week since the 2002 season. This is the seventh season that the award has been sponsored by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Members of the FWAA All-America Committee decide the weekly honor. Each remaining Monday during the 2010 college football regular season, the FWAA will name the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week.

Founded in 1971, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl has hosted six games that have decided the college football national championship, including three Bowl Championship Series title games. This season, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will host the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 10, 2011 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be played on Jan. 1, 2011 in Glendale and the Insight Bowl will be played on Dec. 28, 2010 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
