Florida earns Team of the Week honor

DALLAS (FWAA) – The Oklahoma Sooners kept their stronghold of the top spot in the FWAA/Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll this week, while Miami and Virginia Tech remained Nos. 2 and 3. The Sooners eased past Missouri, 34-13, to remain unbeaten and collect all 16 first-place votes. OU was the preseason No. 1 pick by the 16-member panel.

USC managed to move up to the No. 4 spot, jumping ahead of Georgia (No. 5) this week, but it was two Big Ten teams that made the biggest moves. Michigan State jumped from No. 16 to No. 10, while Purdue moved up four spots from No. 15 to No. 11 in the poll. The Big Ten leads all conferences with four teams in the Super 16 as Michigan was among three new teams to be ranked this week. Nebraska and TCU are also in the poll as Iowa, Wisconsin and Arkansas were dropped from the FWAA rankings.

Florida, with its second straight conference win on the road, was named the FWAA's National Team of the Week. The Gators knocked of Arkansas, 33-28, in Fayetteville one week after dropping LSU in Baton Rouge. Keiwan Ratliff intercepted three passes – one for a touchdown – in the Gators' win.

Other teams nominated for Team of the Week included Oklahoma State, Purdue, Syracuse and Southern California.

The FWAA National Team of the Week will continue to be announced in conjunction with the Grantland Rice Super 16 each Monday throughout the season.
