Mon., Sept. 15: The FWAA and the National Football Foundation have released the season's first regular-season Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll, which is topped by the Florida State Seminoles (2-0), who garnered 24 of the 41 first-place votes. Oregon, ranked second, has the other 17 votes for the top spot. Seven of the 16 teams hail from the Southeastern Conference, including three of the top five.

Josh Keyes had 5.5 tackles for loss in the upset of No. 9 USC

Tues., Sept. 16: Boston College linebacker Josh Keyes has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the week of Sept. 13. Keyes, a 6-2, 223-pound senior from Ghent, N.Y., was part of defense that held USC's running attack to just 20 yards in the 37-31 upset of the Trojans. Keyes recorded eight total tackles (seven unassisted). Of his eight tackles, 5.5 were tackles for a loss and included a key sack of USC quarterback Cody Kessler for a loss of eight yards in the fourth quarter.
