Mon., Sept. 29: The FWAA and the National Football Foundation have released the season's third regular-season Grantland Rice Super 16 Poll, which is topped by the Oregon Ducks, despite only earning 11 of the 41 first-place votes. Five schools received first-place votes this week, including No. 2 Florida State, which received 18.

Quentin Poling helped Ohio snap a two-game losting streak
Tues., Sept. 23: Ohio linebacker Quentin Poling has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the week of Sept. 23. Poling, a 6-0, 219-pound redshirt freshman from Spencerville, Ohio, paced the Bobcats' defense with 14 tackles and three interceptions (77 return yards) in a 36-24 victory over Idaho.
