Sun., Dec. 4: The Alabama Crimson Tide went wire-to-wire during the entire season with the No. 1 ranking in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll, claiming all the first place votes in the final poll. Clemson and Ohio State swapped spots at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Washington maintained its No. 4 ranking, and Penn State moved up two spots to No. 5. The Big Ten led all conferences with four teams. The ACC, Pac-12 and Big 12 had three each.

Jonathan Allen is the first FWAA National Defensive Player of the Year from Alabama
Mon., Dec. 5: Finally, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a winner in the Bronko Nagurski Trophy balloting: defensive end Jonathan Allen. The nation’s top-ranked team, attempting to win a second straight national title and fifth in eight years, saw Allen claim the trophy as the best defensive player in college football, as chosen by the Football Writers Association of America.
