Dallas WR/DB earns honor for second straight week
PETTIS IS AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Maybe this should be renamed the Will Pettis Award.

For the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season, the Dallas wide receiver/defensive back took the Player of the Week honors, as voted upon by board members of the Arena Football League Writers Association.

Pettis

Pettis, in his sixth season, all with Dallas, again caught four touchdown passes, ran for one and passed for another. He had a game-high 13 catches for 118 yards in the Desperados 68-52 win over Cleveland on Saturday night.

He scored two of his six touchdowns in the fourth quarter and also had a team-high six tackles. His longest catch of the night was a 21-scoring reception from Clint Dolezel in the second quarter that gave Dallas a 13-10 lead that it would never relinquish.

Pettis will try to win the award for the third consecutive week against Eastern Division-rival Philadelphia this Saturday night.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
