JONES IS AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – He had one of the season's best performances by a wide receiver, and as a result, Georgia's Tiger Jones was named the Arena Football League Writers Association's Player of the Week for Week 12.

Jones caught 15 passes for a 224 yards – an AFL season high – to go along with six touchdowns, as the Force defeated New York 72-67 on Sunday afternoon. His biggest play of the game came with nine seconds left, as his 28-yard scoring reception put Georgia ahead to stay.

His other touchdown catches came from 4 yards (twice), 8, 15 and 42. Jones' quarterback, Chris Greisen had a phenomenal day as well, completing 32 of 39 passes for 403 yards and nine touchdowns.

It was the first time this season someone from Georgia has won the award, as voted on by the board members of the AFLWA.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
