LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – With one of the season's top performances
by a quarterback, Cleveland's Raymond Philyaw has been named
the Arena Football League Writers Association's Player of the
Week for Week 8.

| Philyaw |
Philyaw completed 30 of 39 pass attempts for nine touchdowns
in the Gladiators' 83-69 win at Los Angeles. Four of his scoring
passes came with less than nine minutes remaining, and his team
in a 55-55 game.
Philyaw's favorite target was Otis Amey, who caught 15 passes
for 208 yards and six touchdowns, including two in the final two
minutes of both the first and second halves.
For Philyaw, it was only the second time in his career and first
time since his second season in 2001, in which he passed for at
least nine touchdowns in a game. With Indiana seven seasons ago
in Game 11, he threw 10 scoring passes.
