LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – It only took seven weeks to find a
repeat winner of the Arena Football League Writers Association's
Player of the Week award.
 |
| Pettis |
With six touchdowns, including five receiving, Dallas' Will
Pettis was the AFL's best last week in keeping the Desperados
undefeated with a 55-44 win over New Orleans. He also won the award
in Week 3.
To go along with accounting for more than 65 percent of Dallas'
scoring, Pettis caught 10 total passes for 116 yards. He also had
95 return yards and two tackles. In all, he had 212 total yards.
His biggest play came late in the third quarter after the VooDoo
took its final lead, as Pettis grabbed a 9-yard touchdown reception
to put the Desperados back in front 41-37 in a seesaw game. He also
scored Dallas' final touchdown for a 55-37 lead with 8:09 remaining
that all but put it away.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each
week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly
award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson
of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and
executive director.
