MacPHERSON IS AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Grand Rapids' James MacPherson was almost perfect Monday night in leading the Rampage to the second-highest point total in AFL history, and he became the first this season to be unanimously chosen as the Arena Football League Writers Association Player of the Week.

MacPherson

MacPherson tied a team single-game record by throwing nine touchdown passes. He finished the game 24-of-27 for 307 yards in leading Grand Rapids to its first victory of the season, as it routed winless Kansas City, 92-52.

MacPherson threw six scoring passes – to four different players – in the first half, leading the Rampage to a 48-31 lead.

He completed his last touchdown toss with 22 seconds remaining in the third quarter, as Grand Rapids led 71-38 entering the final 15 minutes. The Rampage's final three scores came on runs.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
