GRAZIANI IS AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – In leading his Soul to an overwhelming 21-point win over Orlando on Saturday with nine touchdown passes, Philadelphia quarterback Tony Graziani is the Arena Football League Writers Association's Player of the Week for Week 1.

More than half of Graziani's completions (15) ended in touchdowns, and he averaged more than 17 yards per completion, throwing for 257 yards in the Soul's 77-56 win over the Predators, a team Philadelphia beat in the final week of the regular season last year and in the opening weke of the playoffs.

The nine touchdown passes were a franchise record, and his passer rating of 147.2 was highest in the AFL last week.

Four of his scoring passes went to Chris Jackson, Philadelphia's highest-profile signee in the offseason. Larry Brackins caught six passes for 133 yards and three scores.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
