With 117 touchdown passes, he shattered the previous record set
by Clint Dolezel – whom he backed up the past two seasons – last
year with 105. He passed for 4,871 yards, second-most in league
history, and threw for seven or more scores in all but five games
this season.
Greisen, who garnered 11 first-place votes and 48 overall, outdistanced
Dolezel (six first-place votes, 38 overall) and Chicago wide receiver
Bobby Sippio (three, 34) in the balloting among members of the AFLWA.
Greisen's best performances this year were in back-to-back games
against Las Vegas and Dallas. Against the Gladiators in Week 7,
he was 34-of-45 for 376 yards and 10 touchdowns, and the following
week, he helped hand the Desperados their only loss of the season,
going 25-of-37 for 357 yards and 10 scores.
The Force (14-2) earned the National Conference's second seed,
and it will face Philadelphia at home on Sunday in its quest for
a second ArenaBowl appearance in three seasons.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. The association has named an AFL Player of the Week each
week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly
award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson
of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and
executive director.
