LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Dallas quarterback Clint Dolezel became
the first player in Arena Football League history to throw his 800th
touchdown pass, and he is named the AFL Writers Association's Player
of the Week for Week 7.

In a 51-41 win over division-rival Philadelphia, Dolezel got
hot after a slow start. The Desperados trailed 27-23 early in the
third quarter, but took over, scoring 14 straight points. The first
six came on a 46-yard scoring pass from Dolezel to Willis Marshall
that gave the 12-year veteran quarterback the magic No. 800.
Dolezel's 802nd career touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter,
on a 26-yarder to Andrae Thurman that gave Dallas a 44-34 lead with
14:18 remaining.
Two other quarterbacks – New Orleans' Andy Kelly (793 career
touchdown passes) and Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner (786) – have a
chance to surpass the mark this season.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each
week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly
award since its inception during the 2004 season. Mark Anderson
of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and
executive director.
