LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – For the second consecutive week, a member of the Dallas Desperados set a team record and was named the Arena Football Writers Association's Player of the Week.

Will Pettis scored a Dallas-record seven touchdown and was unanimous choice for the award in Week 4. He had five receiving scores, one rushing and another on 58-yard kickoff return to lead the Desperados (4-0) to a 70-49 rout at Orlando on Monday night.

Dallas, which has been a near-consensus pick in the Schutt Sports Top 12 Poll all season long, has won all four of its games this season by 12 points or more.

During the first half Monday, Dallas and Orlando went back and forth, with neither team leading by more than a touchdown until Pettis caught consecutive touchdown passes early in the third quarter to give the Desperados a 49-35 lead.

His final touchdown – with 1:37 remaining – came on a kickoff return to erase any doubt about the final outcome.

Last week, fullback Josh White won AFLWA Player of the Week honors, rushing for a team-record five touchdowns in a 66-54 win over Kansas City.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. The association will name an AFL Player of the Week each week throughout the 2007 season. The AFLWA has presented this weekly award since its inception during the 2004 season.
