LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – There has been little suspense at the top
of the Schutt Sports Top 12 Poll, so it's appropriate the
Dallas Desperados once again received every No. 1 vote in the final
rankings.
Dallas
(13-3) is No. 1 for the ninth consecutive week and the unanimous choice
by members of the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) for
the fourth week in a row.
The Desperados, who received all 20 votes after routing the New York
Dragons 82-38, have a bye for the first week of the AFL playoffs, as do
the three teams right below them in the poll.
A 59-35 victory over the Arizona Rattlers moved the Colorado Crush
(11-5) up a spot to No. 2. The San Jose SaberCats (10-6) advanced two
places to No. 3 after defeating the Columbus Destroyers 68-47. Dropping
two spots to No. 4 were the Orlando Predators (10-6), who fell 67-43 to
the Austin Wranglers.
Austin (10-6) used the victory over Orlando to move up a slot to No.
5. The Wranglers host the No. 7 Philadelphia Soul (9-7) in the wild-card
round. Philadelphia moved up three places after topping the Georgia
Force 57-41.
New York (10-6), which dropped two slots to No. 6, is home against
Georgia, which remained No. 8.
Arizona (8-8), which moved down to spots to No. 9, hosts the Utah
Blaze (7-9).
The Nashville Kats (8-8) gained a place to No. 10 following a 66-50
over the Tampa Bay Storm. Nashville is home against the No. 12 Chicago
Rush (7-9). Chicago entered the poll after dismantling the Grand Rapids
Rampage 70-47.
Columbus (8-8), which dropped two spots to No. 11, is finished for the
season.
