LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Dallas Desperados veteran quarterback
Clint Dolezel tied his league record of 11 touchdown passes, and is
the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Player of the
Week.
He completed 24 of 30 passes for 353 yards to lead the Desperados to
an 87-62 victory over the Orlando Predators. Dolezel matched his own AFL
touchdown record, which he accomplished last season while playing for
the Las Vegas Gladiators.
Aaron Garcia of the New York Dragons threw 11 touchdowns in a game in
2001.
"It's very unusual for someone to score this many points against
Orlando, especially when it's in their house," Dolezel told the Fort
Worth Star-Telegram.
This has been quite a season for Dolezel, who signed with Dallas
during the off-season and has led the Desperados to a club-best 7-1
start. He also tossed his 700th career touchdown pass this season, the
third player ever to do that and the fastest one to get there.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization
made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson
of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
