LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Darrell Jones wasn't a familiar name even to the league's staunchest fans, but he could be soon.

He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and recovered an onside kick to help lift the Arizona Rattlers to a 60-57 victory over the Orlando Predators, earning the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Player of the Week.

Jones started the season on the practice squad before making the main roster on special teams three weeks ago.
"I stayed ready," Jones told the Arizona Republic. "I was just waiting for my opportunity. I just made it happen."

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
