LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Last week, it was Shane Stafford. This time,
his Tampa Bay Storm teammate, Bobby Sippio, picked up the Arena
Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Player of the Week award.
Sippio, a wide receiver/defensive back, did it all for the Storm in its
69-59 defeat of the Kansas City Brigade. The Brigade had trouble defending
Sippio, who caught nine passes for 129 yards with four touchdowns.
"They had the No. 1 defense," Sippio told The Kansas City Star. "I doubt
they have that now. ... They couldn't stop me at all."
In addition to the receptions, he hurt Kansas City in other ways, tipping
an opposing pass to himself for an interception to set up one of his touchdowns.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization
made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson
of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
