Quarterback's second straight 400-yard outing keys upset of Austin
TAMPA BAY'S STAFFORD IS
AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – In the pass-happy Arena Football League, which is in its 20th season, amazingly no quarterback had thrown for 400 yards in consecutive games until Tampa Bay's Shane Stafford on Saturday.

He passed for 424 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the Storm to a 58-48 victory over the Austin Wranglers, earning the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Player of the Week honor.

Stafford completed 26 of 41 passes in handing the Wranglers their first loss.

"It's pretty cool, but it's only one win," Stafford told the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. "It's not like 400 yards equals four wins. I wish it did because we'd be 8-2 now."

In his previous outing, Stafford passed for a club-record 458 yards in a 67-64 overtime loss to the Orlando Predators.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
