The league's toughest player? It's got to be a lineman or a fullback/linebacker,
right?
According to the players in the most recent Arena Football League
Writers Association (AFLWA) poll, it's a quarterback.
That's right, 22.2 percent of the respondents said New York Dragons
quarterback Aaron Garcia is the AFL's toughest player. Last season,
he became the first quarterback to throw 600 career touchdown passes,
but Garcia obviously has impressed his peers with much more than
his passing ability.
Garcia's victory wasn't exactly a runaway, though. Colorado Crush
lineman Kyle Moore-Brown received 18.5 percent of the vote. He has
started 161 consecutive games, and has been called "The Man of Steel."
Two Nashville Kats players took in 11.1 percent of the vote —
James Baron and Darryl Hammond.
