LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Voters were split on which team should
be No. 1 in this week's Arena Football League Writers Association
(AFLWA) Top 8 Poll, with the Orlando Predators and
San Jose SaberCats sharing the top spot.
Each team received 101 points, with Orlando (9-4) picking up
five first-place votes and San Jose (8-4) totaling seven. Previous
No. 1 Georgia (9-4) received the other two first-place votes, dropping
the Force to No. 3 with 90 points.
Orlando moved up a spot following its 52-49 victory over the
Force. The Predators next visit the Philadelphia Soul (5-8). San
Jose advanced three places following its 89-41 rout of Colorado,
dropping the Crush (8-4) one slot to a tie for No. 4. The SaberCats
host the Nashville Kats (4-7-1). Georgia is off, and Colorado is
at the Grand Rapids Rampage (1-11).
Sharing the fourth position with the Crush is the New Orleans
VooDoo (8-4), which moved up three places after a 49-47 victory
over Grand Rapids. New Orleans is at the Tampa Bay Storm (7-5),
which dropped out of the rankings from No. 5 following a 37-21 loss
to Nashville.
The Dallas Desperados (7-4-1) moved up two spots thanks to a
55-33 victory over the Columbus Destroyers. Dallas hosts the New
York Dragons (7-5).
Despite a 52-49 loss to the Avengers, the Chicago Rush (7-5)
was ranked No. 7, one spot ahead of Los Angeles (7-5). Chicago,
which dropped one place, hosts the Las Vegas Gladiators (7-5). Los
Angeles, which entered the poll, hosts the Arizona Rattlers (4-8).
