LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – As the playoff races tighten, this
weekend will have a major effect on the postseason as the top four
teams in the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA)
Top 8 Poll face each other.
The No. 1 Georgia Force (9-3) is at the No. 2 Orlando
Predators (8-4), and the No. 3 Colorado Crush (8-3) hosts the No.
4 San Jose SaberCats (7-4).
Georgia reached the top spot after a two-week absence at No.
1, receiving 14 first-place votes and 125 points. The Force defeated
the Grand Rapids Rampage 62-41 to move up from the second position.
Orlando also moved up a place following its 72-60 victory over
the New York Dragons. Colorado fell from No. 1 after a 75-51 loss
to the Chicago Rush, and San Jose moved up a spot with an 83-71
victory over the Dallas Desperados.
Despite a 54-42 victory over the Austin Wranglers, the Tampa
Bay Storm (7-4) fell a spot to No. 5. Tampa Bay is at the Nashville
Kats (3-7).
Though Chicago's victory over Colorado was impressive, the Rush
(7-4) moved up just two slots to No. 6. Chicago is at the Los Angeles
Avengers (6-5), who fell out of the poll from a tie for sixth following
a 51-48 loss to Nashville.
The New Orleans VooDoo (7-4) entered the rankings at No. 7 thanks
to a 62-28 victory over the Columbus Destroyers. New Orleans is
at Grand Rapids (1-10).
Dallas' loss dropped it from a tie for sixth to No. 8. The Desperados
(6-4-1) are at Columbus (1-10).
